Description
Introduction
Polygonum cuspidatum extract resveratrol is a natural product extracted from the rhizomes of Polygonum cuspidatum. The main active ingredients are resveratrol (C14H12O3) and emodin.
1、 Core active ingredients
Resveratrol (C ₁₄ H ₁₂ O3)
Natural polyphenolic compounds have strong antioxidant properties, can inhibit lipid peroxidation and cholesterol deposition, and protect the cardiovascular system.
Can promote collagen synthesis, enhance skin elasticity, and delay photoaging.
Polygonum cuspidatum glycoside (resveratrol glycoside, C ₂₀ H ₂₂ O ₈)
The glucoside derivative of resveratrol appears as white needle-crystals and is easily soluble in methanol and ethanol23.
Has cough suppressant, antibacterial, blood lipid regulating, and antioxidant effects, clinically used for the treatment of cardiovascular diseases and anti shock therapy.
Anthraquinone components (such as emodin, emodin methyl ether)
Emodin can inhibit Propionibacterium acnes, regulate sebum secretion, and improve oily skin problems.
Anthraquinone compounds are separated by gradient pH extraction. It is the key components of Polygonum cuspidatum for anti-inflammatory and antibacterial purposes.
2、 Production process and product form
Preparation process: water extraction, alcohol extraction combined with spray drying technology.
Product Form: Brown yellow powder (Polygonum cuspidatum extract) or white crystalline powder (high-purity Polygonum cuspidatum glycoside) .
Purity range: Resveratrol (5% -98%), Polygonatum sibiricum glycoside (≥ 98%), Emodin (50% -98%).
3、 Pharmacological effects and applications
- Cardiovascular protection
Resveratrol and polydatin reduce blood viscosity, inhibit platelet aggregation, and prevent atherosclerosis and coronary heart disease through antioxidant mechanism.
- Anti inflammatory and skin repair
External application can alleviate acne, eczema, mild dermatitis, and accelerate wound healing. Adding it to skincare products can repair sensitive skin. - Organ protection and metabolic regulation
Anti liver fibrosis, protection of myocardial cells, regulation of immune function. It clinically treat the adjuvant chronic prostatitis (clearing dampness heat, removing blood stasis) and hepatitis. - Antibacterial and antiviral properties
It has inhibitory effect on multi drug resistant bacteria, herpesvirus, etc..It is applicable to urinary system infection and “hanging carbuncle” (pelvic floor infectious diseases) .
4、 Precautions for use
- Security
Under conventional doses, liver toxicity is relatively low. But long-term high doses may cause elevate transaminases, decrease platelets, or gastrointestinal reactions (nausea, diarrhea).
Tannin components may consume vitamin B ₁, and long-term use requires appropriate supplementation.
5、 Market supply
- Capacity and demand: The annual demand for resveratrol is about 100 tons, while the current global capacity is only 50-60 tons.
- Application areas: pharmaceuticals (cardiovascular/anti shock drugs), dietary supplements, skincare products, and veterinary additives.
- Data tip: under the guidance of a doctor to avoid long-term self consumption. In industrial production, the yield of anthraquinone components can be improved by optimizing the extraction process (such as gradient pH method).
